Mohamed Madi is a London-based filmmaker and senior journalist for BBC News. He has reported from over 30 countries over the last 10 years, including Libya, Venezuela and Ukraine.

In this time he has covered many of the major events of the last decade, including the Arab Spring, the European migrant crisis and the rise of Islamic State.

In addition to award-winning news coverage, he is also a self-shooting documentary producer/director. His documentaries focus on identity, migration and human rights.

His most recent documentary, From Kurdistan with Sorrow, explored the aftermath of the worst migrant boat disaster recorded in the English Channel.

Mohamed studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Oxford University. He was selected to be a 2022 Ochberg Fellow by the Dart Centre for Journalism and Trauma, based at Columbia University. He is also a Fellow of the John Schofield Trust, a charity devoted to widening access to journalism in the UK.

He speaks fluent Arabic and is hostile-environment trained.
